Recruitment

The recruitment of qualified workers is an important aspect of workforce development. It ensures the availability of a capable workforce able to meet the growing treatment and recovery needs of our nation. In 2000 a total of 61,000 individuals were employed as substance abuse and behavioral disorders counselors. By 2010 there will be a need for an additional 21,000 practitioners.8 Treatment organizations are already experiencing a shortage of workers and currently struggling to recruit staff. An explanation of this struggle can be found in the Why is there a Workforce Development Crisis? section.

In order to address this issue the ATTC Network and the Association of Addiction Professionals (NAADAC) have developed a partnership to facilitate a recruitment campaign. To learn about the ATTC/NAADAC Recruitment Campaign, visit www.addictioncareers.org or click on the Recruit button in the sidebar on the left.
