In Celebration of Recovery Month

"In My Own Words..."

"When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves."
-- Victor E. Frankl (1984)

In recognition of Recovery Month 2010, the ATTC National Office, in partnership with Faces & Voices of Recovery and National Family Dialogue, invited families of a loved one struggling with addiction or in long-term recovery to share THEIR STORY of recovery.

Family members have a unique perspective to share about their own journey. Their stories highlight addiction as a family disease and offer hope to those who are looking for new purpose and stability in life.

Nearly 100 essays, from over 30 states, were received and reviewed by the ATTC National Office and an Essay Review Panel.  All participants received a special certificate and appreciation gift for their willingness to share these very inspiring stories.  In addition, the top three essay submissions are as follows:

First Place Recipient - Denise Greiner (Arizona);
Second Place Recipient - Tom Wark (Virginia); and
Third Place Recipient - Judy Hutchinson (Illinois).

To view these very moving, deeply personal stories, along with 17 additional submissions receiving honorable mention, click on:
