Based on the publication DHHS Publication No. (SMA) 01-3498, this supplemental curriculum was developed to provide practitioners and administrators familiarity and knowledge about the interaction between LGBT issues and substance use disorders. The curriculum offers skill-building knowledge enhancing practical abilities to offer sensitive, affirmative, culturally relevant, and effective treatment to LGBT individuals in substance use disorders treatment.
New York, NY, April 23, 2014 - "In Their Own Words: A Needs Assessment of Hispanic LGBT Older Adults" is a recently report created by the National Hispanic Council on Aging (NHCOA) in partnership with SAGE and sponsored by the Diverse Elder Coalition. This report includes a literature review, focus groups and key informant interviews with LGBT Hispanic older adults around the country, as well as with the service providers who work with them. It was designed to assess the status of Hispanic LGBT older adults and understand the challenges they face.
