Sesame Street Tackles Addiction

Published:
October 11, 2019

The newest muppet to join Sesame Street will discuss that she's in foster care because her mom had to go away for a "grown-up problem." Yellow-haired Karli says that she loves her mom but that she couldn't take care of her because she was having a tough time.

Karli is part of the Sesame Street in Communities project that provides supplemental content.

"For children who connect to Karli, hearing, 'It's not your fault -- you are not alone, and there are safe people and places that can help,' opens a path to hope and healing," Jerry Moe, national director of the Hazelden Betty Ford Children's Program, said in the statement. He was one of the advisers for the initiative [CNN].
