Methadone and buprenorphine are considered the gold standard medication for treatment of Opioid Use Disorders. These medications are extremely cost-effective and associated with significant reductions in fatal overdoses. This webinar will review the growing body of evidence for treating Opioid Use Disorders with medications with a particular focus on providing treatment services in jails.
 

Learning Objectives:

  1. Describe the financial costs and benefits of medications for opioid use disorder in both outpatient and carceral settings
  2. Describe the nonfinancial benefits of such medications in both settings.


Presenter: JK Costello, MD, MPH is the Director of Behavioral Health Consulting for the Steadman Group, LLC and a frequent Opioid Response Network (ORN) presenter. He has experience with designing programs for people with substance use disorders as well as prevention, treatment and recovery professionals.
