Sounds in nature used as a healing source have been practiced by ancient cultures since time immemorial. These sounds transformed into the music we are familiar with today and share these same healing powers. All cultures throughout human history have spiritual paths to address pain and suffering, as well as joy. Universally these paths have incorporated musical elements in the practice. Whereas other forms of artistic expression such as painting, pottery, and poetry affect most humans emotionally through visual means, only music has the potential to affect humans through both emotional and physiological pathways.
