SAVE THE DATE: 2022 SEN Conference

Publication Date: Oct 27, 2022

New England Addiction Technology Transfer Center is proud to partner with the Rhode Island
Department of Health (RIDOH)
in presenting the 2022 Rhode Island Substance Exposed Newborns
Conference. This year's theme is Prenatal Substance Exposure in the Wake of the COVID-19
Pandemic.

The syndemic nature of the COVID-19 pandemic in Rhode Island has brought with it an increase in
substance use, overdose, and mental health conditions. Fueled in part by pandemic anxiety and
social restrictions, Rhode Island’s opioid crisis transformed into a polysubstance crisis.

Pregnant and postpartum people who use substances may experience socioeconomic insecurities
as well as fear and shame as a result of bias and discrimination. Good outcomes for families
affected by prenatal substance exposure are dependent in part on Rhode Island providers having
up-to-date information, awareness of available supports and services, and a commitment to
providing bias-free care.

This event is scheduled to take place on December 13th 2022, from 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM ET with more details on registration coming soon!
