SBIRT (Screening, Brief Intervention, Referral to Treatment) - DAY ONE - video conference via Zoom

Due to the COVID19 pandemic, the behavioral health world has gone virtual, with providers conducting many services through the use of technology, (phone, video conferencing, etc). Although engagement may, ‘look’ different, providers who perform intakes, assessment, and counseling have an opportunity to screen for substance use, especially those at elevated levels and conduct a brief intervention in a timely manner.

SBIRT, (Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment), is an evidence based practice that uses a preventive public health approach to identify and intervene with persons whose patterns of use might have increased due to ‘shelter in place’ guidelines and putting them at risk for substance-related health and psychosocial problems. SBIRT also identifies those with a high potential for a substance use disorder.

This interactive two-part zoom webinar will review the SBIRT intervention components, validated evidence based tools used in SBIRT, considerations for facilitating a culturally sensitive and trauma informed substance use screen, how to provide a brief intervention, and essential components of successful facilitation of referrals to treatment.

You must register for each day separately. To receive a Certificate of Completion for three CASAC hours, participants are required to attend both sessions in their entirety.
