Using Cultural Elements and Brief Intervention to Reduce Substance Use in Latinx Communities - Webinar

SBIRT (Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment), is an evidence based practice that uses a preventive public health approach to identify and intervene with persons with at risk use of alcohol and other substances impacting their health and on a trajectory of substance use disorder.  This interactive 90-minute presentation will review the integration of cultural elements and inclusivity as critical to creating a safe and affirming environment which is conducive to engagement and facilitation of a substance use screen. The content will also inform how taking a few minutes to conduct a person centered brief intervention with persons from Latinx communities can help motivate reduction of substance use.

Credits: This training meets the requirements for 1.5 renewal hours (CASAC, CPP, CPS) and 1.5 initial hours (CPP, CPS) through New York State’s Office of Addiction Services and Supports (NYS OASAS). Participants must attend the session in its entirety to receive a certificate of completion.
