HealtheKnowledge is a one-stop shop for your online learning needs, with free online learning and low-cost continuing education courses for health and behavioral health professionals.
A program of the UMKC School of Nursing and Health Studies’ Collaborative Center to Advance Health Services, HealtheKnowledge offers over 250 public courses. Every course offers a certificate of completion and includes 24/7 online helpdesk support in English and Spanish.
Many courses offer the option to purchase individual continuing education credits for $5/credit hour. Users may also purchase a $50 All Access annual membership to earn unlimited continuing education credits.
Below are some of the most popular HealtheKnowledge courses from the ATTC Network. All of these courses are self-paced.
1. SBIRT for Health and Behavioral Health Professionals
Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT) is a comprehensive approach used to identify, reduce, and prevent misuse and dependence on alcohol and illicit drugs. This course equips professionals with the tools to implement SBIRT effectively in various healthcare settings. 3.0 hours of CE available (CNE, NASW, NAADAC).
2. Addressing Stigma and Substance Use Disorders
Stigma can significantly impact individuals with substance use disorders. This course delves into the origins and effects of stigma, providing strategies for healthcare professionals to address and reduce stigma in their practice, thereby improving patient outcomes. 4.0 hours of CE available (NAADAC).

4. Contingency Management for Healthcare Settings Series
Contingency Management (CM) is an evidence-based approach that uses positive reinforcement to encourage desired behaviors. This series of courses provides an in-depth look at how CM can be applied in healthcare settings to improve treatment adherence and outcomes. Classes available for Direct-Care Staff, Administrative Assistants, Clinical Supervisors and Decision Makers. 1-, 2-, or 2.5-hours CE available (NAADAC).
5. Tour of Motivational Interviewing
Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a counseling approach that helps individuals find the motivation to make positive changes. This course offers a tour of MI techniques, principles, and applications, helping professionals to engage clients in meaningful conversations about change. 4.0 hours of CE available (NAADAC, CHES).
