Lawrence Bryant PhD, MPH, BSW, RRT

Dr. Bryant brings a plethora of experiences dealing with substance use disorders, HIV/AIDS, cultural competency and sexual orientation among Black gay men as well as others in the  LGBTQ+ community. He has been successful in developing and implementing a statewide strategic plan for Georgia in response to the opioid and prescription drug overdose epidemic. Dr. Bryant has published over 20 articles in the areas of HIV/AIDS, substance use, and sexual orientation issues among Black Gay Men.

As a part-time Assistant Professor at Kennesaw State University, Health Promotion Department, Dr. Bryant has received funding from The Georgia Department of Public Health to do a multi-cultural needs assessment among vulnerable populations in support of the Statewide Strategic Plan for Opioid Abuse as well as other substances.

Dr Bryant also is a consultant with the Opioid Response Network, as an Advance Implementation Specialist in the areas of substance use disorders, including Opioid Use Disorder, and Stimulant Use Disorders. Dr Bryant is also a part-time assistant professor at Capella University in the School of Psychology, in the School of Addictions, where he teaches courses in SUDs. Dr. Bryant recently retired from respiratory therapy after 45 years of service. 

 

 

Areas of Expertise

Dr. Bryant brings a plethora of experiences and knowledge dealing with substance use disorders (SUD), HIV/AIDS prevention and education, diversity, equity and inclusion training, anti-racism training, and sexual orientation education. He has been successful in developing and implementing a statewide strategic plan for Georgia in response to the opioid and prescription drug overdose epidemic. Dr Bryant is currently an Advanced Implementation Specialist with the Opioid Response Network and provides training on stimulant use disorders and Diversity, equity, and inclusion.
