Cameron Lacy Ortega is a lecturer in the School of Rehabilitation Counseling and Services at The University of Texas-Rio Grande Valley and teaches in the bachelors in additions studies program. Ms. Ortega has worked in substance use treatment for 10 years in inpatient and outpatient settings as a clinical supervisor and clinical director. Ms. Ortega is currently is serving on the board of directors for Palmer Drug Abuse Program, board of directors for The Texas Association of Addiction Professionals and is an officer for the Valley Association of Addition Professionals.

Mrs. Ortega has been a licensed professional counselor since in 2012 and was designated as a licensed professional counselor supervisor in 2015. Mrs. Ortega is also a licensed chemical dependency counselor since 2010. Her specializations are in substance use disorders and mental health treatment.

Cameron Lacy Ortega has been active in substance use and mental health treatment for over 10 years. Ms. Ortega has worked in inpatient treatment as well as outpatient treatment. Ms. Ortega was the clinical director of an outpatient treatment facility for 6 years treating persons who are diagnosed with a substance use disorder and mental health disorders. Ms. Ortega is also full time faculty at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley teaching in the School of Rehabilitation Counseling and Services in the addiction studies program.
