This Training the Trainer (TTT) event will provide an introduction to Adolescent SBIRT, (Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment), as an effective, comprehensive and preventive strategy for addressing substance use with youth.  

The content will inform on:

• The need to screen for adolescent substance use
• Review of the evidence based tools specifically developed for screening youth
• How to conduct a brief intervention using motivational interviewing skills
• A review of components essential for effective referrals to treatment or other specialty services when needed
• Skills practice activities and review of training considerations
