Contingency Management for Healthcare Settings
This course features separate modules for each of the three common personnel roles in healthcare organizations: decision-makers, clinical supervisors, and direct care staff. All three modules include an introduction to (CM) describing its core elements, scientifically-supported systems, and how it can be used in healthcare settings to have a positive impact on clients. Each module also offers unique content on how each role can successfully integrate CM into their program. Organizations can use this training as a bridge to more intensive technical assistance.

Pacific Behavioral Health Collaborating Council (PBHCC) IC&RC Alcohol and Drug Counselor (ADC)
Developed by the Pacific Southwest Addiction Technology Transfer Center and UCLA Integrated Substance Abuse Programs The IC&RC Alcohol and Drug Counselor (ADC) Academy curriculum is a weeklong training designed to prepare individuals based in the six U.S.-affiliated Pacific Jurisdictions to successfully pass the IC&RC ADC certification exam. The duration of the ADC Academy is forty hours of content spread across five full days of training. Funding for the development of the ADC Academy was provided by the Pacific Behavioral Health Collaborating Council (PBHCC). The curriculum is broken into five modules/days.

Healthy Steps to Freedom Introductory

Contingency Management Principles
This workshop will review the application of CM to promote positive behavior change in substance use disorder treatment settings. Attendees will learn how to design and implement an effective CM program. Specifically, 1) the theoretical underpinnings and supporting empirical literature, 2) different types of CM programs (i.e., voucher, prize), 3) effective design features, 4) most common deviations from evidence-based protocols and how to avoid them, 5) common barriers, 6) how to calculate costs of delivering CM incentives themselves and 7) strategies for designing your own protocol.

Drug Use Patterns and Trends 2018
A report to present highlights on 2018 drug use patterns and trends in Texas. The findings describe that Methamphetamine is the #1 drug threat ranked by the Dallas, El Paso, and Houston Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) field divisions. Indicators of drug use (poison control calls, treatment admissions, deaths, and toxicology reports on substances seized and identified) all show methamphetamine is a larger problem than heroin. Methamphetamine continues to be made using phenyl-2-propanone, not cold medicines, and major drug seizures of large quantities imported from Mexico are more commonly reported.

Naltrexone + buproprion potentially effective for methamphetamine disorder
This study, CTN-0054, “Accelerated Development of Additive Pharmacotherapy Treatment (ADAPT) for Methamphetamine Use Disorder,” was the first investigation of the combination of extended-release bupropion and long-acting injectable naltrexone as a potential pharmacotherapy for methamphetamine use disorder utilizing a video-based strategy to improve and monitor medication adherence.
CTN Research Brief: Web-based interventions for SUD: Effective for Stimulants, Promising for Alcohol & Marijuana, Not Helpful for Opioids
The National Drug Abuse Treatment Clinical Trials Network study, “Web-Delivery of Evidence-Based, Psychosocial Treatment for Substance Use Disorders” (CTN-0044) examined the effectiveness of a web-based behavioral treatment intervention called the Therapeutic Education System (TES) as an adjunct to treatment-as-usual (TAU) for substance use disorders (SUD).
Re-emergence of Cocaine and Methamphetamine Use in the 21st Century
The current opioid crisis is arguably the most deadly public health epidemic since the 1918, influenza pandemic in the US. However, as historians and epidemiologists, including the late David Musto from Yale and Jim Hall from Nova University in Miami have noted, specific categories of drug problems in the US tend to cycle over time and there are signs a new cycle is on the horizon. There is clear evidence that we are seeing the rise of, or the continuing serious levels of, psycho-stimulant (cocaine and methamphetamine) use.
