A trauma-informed approach in substance use treatment involves understanding the prevalence and impact of trauma on individuals with substance use disorders and integrating this understanding into all aspects of treatment. It acknowledges that many individuals with substance use issues have experienced trauma and emphasizes creating a safe, supportive, and empowering environment for healing.
