The course also addresses physiological, psychosocial, and cultural aspects of psychoactive substances in relation to adolescents, adolescent assessment techniques and classification of substance use disorders, and special characteristics of adolescents of diverse population groups, particularly those at high risk.

The course provides an overview of the current state of addiction counseling and prevention services. It is designed for individuals who plan to work indirectly with individuals or families impacted by addiction (e.g., child welfare workers, police officers, nurses, teachers, etc.). Keywords: University Course Disclaimer: This resource was developed prior to the launch of the ATTC Network's initiative on person-first and recovery oriented language. As such, it uses outdated terminology that is not aligned with current standards. Network representatives were unable to obtain permission to modify the existing resource, and recommend that should you use these sources to develop your own, that you embrace the current language best practices.
