As a result of the Opioid Epidemic, there has been a major focus on the management and treatment of Opioid Use Disorder over the past decade. Unfortunately, there has been less attention placed on the screening and treatment of hazardous drinking and alcohol use disorder, despite its greater prevalence and associated risks. This webinar will outline the epidemiology of AUD, the importance of screening for hazardous drinking, and the pharmacological and psychosocial treatment options for AUD.
Jasmine Carpenter, is a board-certified psychiatric pharmacist. She received her Doctor of Pharmacy from Howard University College of Pharmacy. Upon graduating from Howard University, she completed her Post-Graduate Year-1 (PGY-1) Pharmacy Practice Residency at the Washington D.C. Veterans Affairs (VA) Medical Center. As a Mental Health Clinical Pharmacy Specialist, she provides clinical services and direct psychotropic management to patients receiving mental health and substance/alcohol use disorder services within primary care.
Outside of this role, Dr. Carpenter serves as adjunct faculty at Howard University College of Pharmacy and regularly provides psychopharmacology and substance abuse education and training on both a national and international level.
