This course provides an introduction to SBIRT (Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment) for adolescents and young adults. As a comprehensive and preventive approach, SBIRT can identify youth at risk for substance use problems and how to conduct a brief intervention to help them modify their behavior. This interactive training will discuss validated adolescent specific, evidence-based tools used in SBIRT, how to facilitate a brief intervention using motivational interviewing skills to help modify risky substance use consumption, and how to facilitate a successful referral to treatment.
