Studies consistently reflect the disparities amongst Hispanics and Latinos seeking addiction and mental health treatment. Most often they include the barriers they encounter when accessing cultural and linguistically competent care. This interactive training will increase the competencies of addiction and other professionals to be able to integrate Hispanic and Latino culture into practice effecting successful outcomes. Discussions will include how culture influences Hispanic and Latino drug use but can also support recovery, cultural considerations for treatment planning including co-occurring disorders, and culturally informed strategies for practice.
