Over the years, the LGBT community has experienced discrimination, prejudice, and stigma in our society. Even health professionals in Puerto Rico have shown negative attitudes towards serving the population. For this reason, as health professionals we have an ethical and professional duty to serve the people of these communities in a sensitive, empathetic and effective way. In this workshop, we will review the basic concepts of the LGBT community, we will discuss the psychosocial status of people of the LGBT community in Puerto Rico and the world, and we will discuss models of intervention based on evidence that have the endorsement of professionals and institutions.
CEUs are not offered for this course. A certificate of attendance will be provided.
