This presentation focuses on the screening process for alcohol and drug abuse patients. The first step in this process is determine whether the patient recognizes the need for change in his/her behavior. The next step is to interview the patient to determine whether he/she describes behaviors predictive of alcohol or drug abuse and then to ask specific questions that will further describe the nature of the problem.
