Drug misuse, addiction, and HIV have been inextricably linked since the HIV epidemic began. This training will discuss the opioid crisis and how it increases risk of getting, or passing on, the HIV virus and how HIV and behavioral health stigma can impact prevention efforts. There will also be discussions on the science of addiction and how substance misuse impacts the brain, as well as engaging high-risk populations. At the end of this course, the audience will be trained on the benefits and the use of Naloxone in the event of an opioid overdose. Space is limited to 40 participants.
