This course will address the etiology and epidemiology of opioid use disorders.  Treatment strategies for addressing opioid use disorders will be reviewed, including medications that have been proven effective in the treatment of opioid use disorders.  Considerations and mechanisms for each medication, the science of addiction, patient selection criteria and associated patient counseling and therapeutic issues will also be addressed.
