This webinar will be conducted in Spanish. It will reflect on how the state of confinement, social isolation and the paralysis of the economy compromises the balance of mental health, and how this can trigger emotional disorders and precipitate crises in patients with psychiatric conditions. The medium and long-term effects of this situation will be discussed, on the mental health of the population and primarily those most vulnerable. It will analyze how situations of social emergency in the past have increased suicidal ideation and attempts and the consumption of alcohol and other drugs. Topics such as: What is the current situation regarding suicide prevention in Puerto Rico? What is known about the impact of emergency situations on suicide risk, such as the current pandemic? Who are the most affected populations? What recommendations would be made for the prevention of suicide in this new scenario in the short, medium and long term for the entire population and specifically for health professionals?
CEUs are not offered for this course. A certificate of attendance will be provided.
