This course introduces and walks through the SBIRT (Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment) model for adults and youth. As a comprehensive and preventive approach, SBIRT helps to identify and intervene with adults and youth at risk for substance use problems. This 4 one-hour session series will inform on the importance of using validated instruments to facilitate substance use screening, core skills to conduct a brief intervention to incite motivation to modify risky substance use consumption, and essential elements of successful referrals.
