Kurt Begaye, Diné (Navajo), is originally from Chinle, Arizona and an independent consultant providing capacity building assistance to tribes, tribal programs, non-profit organizations, universities and health departments. Successful services include development, implementation and evaluation of public health and social services programs, trainings and curricula, resource development, strategic planning, board development, program management, community mobilization, and leveraging social media/marketing. He is a facilitator and Master Trainer in multiple HIV evidence-based behavior interventions through the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. In late 2014, Kurt broadened his capacity building portfolio to include training and technical assistance to tribes addressing intimate partner violence and sexual assault in the Native Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Gender Variant and Two-Spirit communities. This addition led to the creation of the LGBTQ Advisory Council with the Southwest Indigenous Women’s Coalition, ensuring tribes and organizations are more inclusive and responsive to Native LGBT2S victims of violence.
