Designed, clinically supervised and implemented innovative SBIRT program, Project Link, in NY City public STD clinic sites; trained counselors and medical clinicians in SBIRT NY statewide and nationally. Over 40 years of experience in the development and delivery of SA, MH, HIV, and public health programs in community based settings. Currently serves on SAMHSA National Advisory Council; on faculty at Mount Sinai Medical School teaching unconscious bias and best practices in diversity and inclusion; on adjunct faculty teaching counselor education at Hunter College, NY; and faculty for the World Professional Association for Transgender Health's Global Education Initiative; is principal author of SAMHSA’s training curriculum, A Provider’s Introduction to Substance Abuse Treatment for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Individuals.

Areas of Expertise

Extensive experience in developing curricula and doing training delivery in SBIRT; motivational interviewing; substance use prevention and treatment; LGBTQI cultural competency in mental health and health care services; mitigating unconscious bias and microaggressions; minority stress interventions; and system transformation for LGBTQI health equity and inclusion.
