About this event

The California School-Based Health Alliance is excited to host the 2022 California School-Based Health Conference: Care Beyond the Clinic Walls, at the University of Redlands in San Bernardino. We will host a welcome reception the evening of Thursday, April 28, and our full day conference on Friday, April 29, 2022.

Connect with other school-based health care providers and partners who care deeply about the health and academic success of youth, families, and communities across California. Learn how school-based health providers can help bridge health equity gaps and build resilience for students.

KEYNOTE SPEAKER

Dr. Dana L. Cunningham is a longtime school psychologist and leading national researcher and practitioner in the development and application of evidence-based practices for youth of color, resilience, and trauma-informed practice. She is also a founder of Black Mental Wellness, a firm that addresses mental health and wellness concerns specific to the Black community.

 

We will be providing more details on workshops soon. Below is a list of topics that will covered in the breakout sessions.

  • Motivational Interviewing and Teen Intervene – 2-part workshop that will take place during both morning and afternoon breakout sessions. Participating psychologists, RNs, LMFTs, LCSWs, and certified alcohol and drug counselors will receive 3 hours of continuing education units for attending this 2-part session.
  • Starting a peer mental health mentorship program
  • School-based screening for social determinants of health
  • Ensuring staff wellbeing and self-care
  • Youth HIV prevention strategies
  • Behavioral health case management
  • Understanding racial trauma and promoting resiliency
  • How to start a school-based health center
