Addressing SUD & Structural Stigma Opportunities & Challenges During a Pandemic

Purpose: Stigma undermines access to diagnosis, treatment, and successful health outcomes for people with substance use disorders. This session will explore techniques to eliminating the stigma that exists in systems of care and will describe opportunities and challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic. 

Objectives:
-Understand the role of structural stigma in limiting access to treatment for substance use disorders
-Review best-practices in addressing structural stigma
-Examine structural changes that have occurred when providing medications for opioid use disorder (MOUD) during the pandemic 
-Address structural stigma that may exist in your organization
