Crisis Intervention Strategies

The purpose of this daylong interactive, case-based training is to introduce participants to strategies that can be used to best deal with patient crises, and difficult or hard to engage patients. Strategies for addressing such issues as suicidal ideation, the impact of personality disorders, boundaries, transference, countertransference, aggression and violence, other inappropriate behaviors, and patient-clinician relationship-type issues will be discussed. Participants will learn about suicide risk assessments and interventions. Participants are encouraged to share past and present work-related experiences with handling such situations to inform the case discussion and consultation portion of the training.
