Culturally Responsive and Trauma-Informed Care for Domestic Violence and Substance Use Disorder

This October, the Great Lakes ATTC, MHTTC, and PTTC are honoring Domestic Violence Awareness Month by sharing culturally responsive and trauma-informed training and resources that support individuals and families experiencing domestic violence (DV), intimate partner violence (IPV), and substance use disorder (SUD). Research shows there is an association between DV/IPV and SUD, and these co-occurring factors make it challenging to administer effective mental health and recovery support services. For this reason, the Great Lakes ATTC, MHTTC, PTTC, and SAMHSA have developed evidence-based products and treatment recommendations addressing the complex issues inherent to these behavioral health factors.
