Stimulant use is on the rise in the United States and according to the 2018 National Survey on Drug Use and Health, in the past year an estimated 5.1 million people aged 12 or older misused prescription stimulants; approximately 1.9 million people aged 12 or older used methamphetamine; and 5.5 million people aged 12 or older used cocaine. This guide, prepared for the Department of Health and Human Services, Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, supports health care providers, systems, and communities seeking to treat stimulant use disorders.
