Integrating hepatitis C (HCV) services into opioid treatment settings can improve access to testing, diagnosis, treatment, and support for individuals with HCV, particularly those with a history of substance use.

Your Guide to Integrating HCV Services into Opioid Treatment Programs, published by the ATTC Network Coordinating Office in 2020, outlines how this approach has the potential to enhance overall health outcomes, reduce transmission rates, and contribute to the control and elimination of HCV.

Supplement to Your Guide to Integrating HCV Services The recently published 2023 Supplement to Your Guide to Integrating HCV Services into OTPs addresses the many changes in HCV services that have emerged due to COVID-19 and expanded telehealth and telemedicine services.

“The supplement is designed to serve as a companion to the original guide,” says Kristen Zucht, Associate Director of Operations, Collaborative to Advance Health Services at University Missouri Kansas City. “We also wanted to provide more current data on SUD, OUD, and HCV and share information on new regulations that have reduced barriers to treatment for people with HCV who use substances.”

Both resources are part of the suite of training services available through HCV Current, a national initiative to increase HCV knowledge among medical and behavioral health professionals.
