The Mountain Plains ATTC Co-Director, Professor Thomasine Heitkamp, served as emcee for the virtual South Dakota METH SUMMIT III: CONNECTING TO SOLUTION on October 21, 2020, hosted by the South Dakota Department of Tribal Relations and Department of Social Services. This virtual event was invitation-only for providers of stimulant use disorder services specific to methamphetamines in South Dakota. A host of providers, including representation of tribal nation and many offering Intensive Meth Treatment (IMT) services, attended. Content was shared by Thomasine Heitkamp of the Mountain Plains ATTC that included a resource guide (Stimulant Resources) developed for the training on stimulant use disorders and a presentation by Marvis Doster with the Opioid Resource Network. Trainers at the summit were Al Hasson, Integrated Substance Abuse Program at the Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior with the University of California Los Angeles, and Ed Parsells, Rosebud Sioux Tribe Alcohol and Drug Treatment Program, Methamphetamine Rehabilitation Program in South Dakota.
