This 4-hour course is on Motivational Interviewing (MI), a form of collaborative conversation for strengthening a person’s own motivation and commitment to change by eliciting and exploring the person’s own reasons for change within an atmosphere of acceptance and compassion. This course takes learners on a tour of the essential skills used to strengthen an individual’s motivation for behavioral change.

The goal of this training course is teach participants how to develop their skills to deliver Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT). The assumption in designing this course is that participants have already completed the self-paced online course (Foundations of SBIRT) that introduced the topic of SBIRT. The aim of this training course is to help participants to (1) develop skills related to SBIRT, and to (2) begin a conversation around implementation of SBIRT.

A series of six self-paced online mini-training courses based on videotaped plenary sessions and workshops delivered at the Eighth Statewide Conference on Co-Occurring Disorders (October 2011) and Ninth Statewide Integration Conference (November 2012).

The purpose of this introductory training package is to provide clinicians from a variety of work and educational backgrounds with a detailed overview of synthetic drugs, including substances known on the street as K2, Spice, and Bath Salts. The presentation seeks to raise awareness by defining key terms, describing the main classes of synthetic drugs commonly available, presenting available data on the extent of use, providing information on how to identify and assess individuals using them.

Stigma often makes addicted and recovering people, family and friends, treatment professionals, community activists, and other stakeholders feel powerless, angry, and frustrated. This guide is designed to help people become empowered and to provide practical tools by which people can become involved in stigma prevention activities.    This resource provides practical information about a variety of approaches to prevent addiction-related stigma. Some are especially simple and can be initiated by individuals on their own. These include tips on using stigma-free language and writing letters to the editor. Some approaches are comprehensive, such as developing a community action group and implementing a community-based campaign.

The purpose of the HIV Integration Training Package is to provide HIV clinicians (including, but not limited to physicians, dentists, nurses, and other allied medical staff, therapists and social workers, and counselors, specialists, and case mangers) with an overview of integrated treatment for individuals living with HIV. The main focus of the training is the integration of mental health and substance use disorder treatment services with HIV care.

The purpose of this introductory training curriculum is to provide HIV clinicians (including, but not limited to physicians, dentists, nurses, and other allied medical staff, therapists and social workers, and counselors, specialists, and case managers) with an overview of alcohol and HIV. Also included the training product is a detailed trainer guide and 2-page fact sheet for HIV clinicians.

This is one of two issues addressing the 8 SAMHSA's Strategic Initiative. These issues emphasizes on a general overview of the 8 initiatives and provide a more detailed description on Trauma and Justice, Health Information Technology, and Data, Outcomes and Quality.

These practice guidelines are framed by the notions of recovery and resilience. It is this framework, and an unwavering belief in recovery and resilience in behavioral health, that should be the basis for service delivery.

Self-paced online course that contains six modules of instruction covering topics related to Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT) Model. Topics include: understanding the scope of alcohol and drug abuse/dependence; research why dentists need to understand SUDs; and an overview on how to implement the SBIRT model in dental settings.

In recognition of Recovery Month 2011, this year's essay contest invited individuals who have been supported in their recovery by medications, including methadone or buprenorphine for opioid addiction and acamprosate or naltrexone for alcohol addiction, to share their stories.

The Journal of the Arizona Dental Association-Inscriptions, Volume 25, Number 13, September 2011 featured an article focused on the potential of patient abuse of prescription drugs, especially opioid based medication prescribed by dental practitioners to manage pain. Provided in the article are data and ways to engage patients in conversation regarding their prescription drug use.

This book comprises 20 essays in which family members described, in their own words, the most challenging part about having a family member with a substance use disorder, what it means to have a loved one find long-term recovery and explain why they are committed to recovery.

The Change Book offers a comprehensive blueprint for change, which will help direct each aspect of the design, development, implementation, evaluation and revision of a technology transfer plan. Each quarter in the “Meet the Researcher” series, the Research Society on Alcoholism (RSA) and the ATTC Network have partnered to introduce you to some of the scientists working hard to make an impact in the lives of individuals battling the disease of addiction. The first profile was that of Clive Harper, M.D., FRCPA, winner of the 2009 RSA Begleiter Research Award.

The National Office has been working with the Northeast ATTC to take their publication "Know the Facts in New York" and turn it into a Network Product. This booklet will present facts relating to the benefits of treatment to society.

In recognition of the 2009 Recovery Month, the National Office, in partnership with the Association of Recovery Schools (ARS), held an essay contest to celebrate student recovery and highlight the work of recovery schools. This booklet highlights the first, second and third place recovery high school and college award-winning essays, as well as nine additional receiving honorable mentions.

To encourage those who may be thinking about a profession in the addictions treatment and recovery services field and spotlight the vital role a qualified team of professionals plays in the recovery of millions of individuals, the ATTC National Office created the "In My Own Words ..." Essay Contest and this compilation of submissions and Leadership Profiles.

Designed for delivery by clinical supervisors with staff; can give insight into the strengths/challenges regarding approaches to treatment of co-occurring disorders and help identify areas where more in-depth training is needed or where programs need enhancement. Eighteen 45-minute modules were developed for use in a learning environment that includes a mix of treatment professionals with various degrees of experience.
