This product is a 1-page overview of the South Africa HIV ATTC's mental health training model written by Dr. Goodman Sibeko, the South Africa HIV ATTC Co-Director. It was published by the Western Cape Department of Health in the October 2017 Provincial Health Research Newsletter on page 8. This brochure provides an overview of the South Africa HIV ATTC’s goals, objectives, and popular training topics. The South Africa HIV ATTC is an implementation science centre co-funded by the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. The brochure contains information about how organisations can request training or technical assistance.

Proceedings of the 2nd Annual Symposium: Reclaiming Our Roots: Rising from the Ashes of Historical Trauma This document is a compilation of the presentations given by invited experts at the National American Indian & Alaska Native ATTC 2015 Second Annual Symposium: Reclaiming our Roots: Rising from the Ashes of Historical Trauma.

The purpose of this introductory training is to provide HIV clinicians with a detailed overview of the neurobiology of addiction, the impact of HIV on the brain and central nervous system (CNS), and the detrimental impact of the intersectionality of multiple stigmatized identities. This training is a companion to, and can be conducted in conjunction with the “How Change Happens: Substance Use Disorders and HIV/AIDS” training curriculum.

The purpose of this training is to provide HIV clinicians with an overview of the challenges and strategies for change in working with individuals living with HIV/AIDS and a diagnosis of a substance use disorder. This training is a companion to and can be conducted in conjunction with the “Nature of Addiction and HIV” training curriculum.

This manuscript describes a pilot study of the mental health training manual used by the South Africa HIV ATTC. Results indicated that community health workers demonstrated significantly improved knowledge, confidence, attitudes, and tolerance to rehabilitation of the mentally ill in the community. The manuscript was written by Dr. Goodman Sibeko, the South Africa HIV ATTC Co-Director, and Professor Dan Stein, the Project Director, and published June 2018 in BMC Psychiatry.

ATTC Network Efforts and Activities in Integrating Substance Use Disorder and Health Care Services
