Understanding and Operationalizing the National CLAS Standards: The Role of Individuals and Organizations in Building Equity

This training will explore the development of disparities in the US and their impacts on racialized and marginalized communities with an equity lens. The participants will learn about the enhanced CLAS Standards and this training will describe techniques, strategies, and opportunities for implementing the standards. Participants will also learn about approaches and strategies grounded in cultural humility and cultural intelligence. Moreover, the participants will learn Cultural Self-Assessments and other tools designed to improve services and eliminate health disparities.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

  1. Define health disparities and health equity;
  2. Understand and describe the concepts of cultural humility and cultural intelligence;
  3. Describe the National CLAS Standards as a tool to develop equity; and

Name at least 3 strategies and 2 tools for participant/client engagement, retention, improving outcomes.
