This Supplemental Guide is developed as a supplement to Your Guide to Integrating HCV Services into Opioid Treatment Programs. The purpose of these two resources is to build the capacity of publicly funded Opioid Treatment Programs (OTPs) to integrate Hepatitis C Virus (HCV) prevention and treatment services into their programs. The opioid epidemic has resulted in significant increases in HCV among people who inject drugs, accounting for 23% of new infections. HCV is completely curable and testing and treatment are the path to cure. OTPs play a critical role in comprehensive approaches to addressing HCV and this guide is one tool to help.

By Juan Baez, BA, LAC, KCGC, IGDC, on behalf of the National Hispanic and Latino ATTC Haga clic aquí para la versión en español Clique aqui para a versão em português   During this time of available betting expansion, it’s important to discuss problem gambling and how it can destroy the lives of individuals and families.  In recognition of Problem Gambling Awareness Month, it’s important to note the factors that make problem gambling unique compared to substance use disorders or other problematic behaviors. These are imperative to know when working with and educating people with gambling problems and or disorder. As a Latino community, it’s essential to talk about what those differences are and how we can better serve our people.  According to the United States Census, there are approximately 62 million Latinos. This makes us a significant part of this country’s fabric, and essential to its success. Latinos come from or have roots in places such as Mexico, Central America, the Caribbean, and elsewhere. Even in various countries and regions, the culture, language, and availability of gambling are diverse. It’s important to identify those distinctions. It can be a matter of simply asking questions and practicing cultural humility to educate ourselves and others.  There is a lot of discussion around the terminology of how to address us. Different terms like Latinos, Hispanics, Latinx, and others exist. It is essential to allow us to self-identify and meet us where we are at. This includes how Latinos with a gambling problem identify themselves.  There are many types of gambling activities in the United States. These include slot machines, table and card games, lotteries, sports betting, bingo, and animal racing. However, there are other non-traditional forms of gambling in Latino countries. It’s important to know the differences that exist and what types of gambling Latinos engage in.

Webinar series hosted in partnership with the Addiction Technology Transfer Center (ATTC) Network Coordinating Office, Mountain Plains ATTC, and the National Center on Domestic Violence, Trauma & Mental Health (NCDVTMH). This first webinar features an interactive panel discussion to begin the conversation and provide resources to address both substance use disorder and intimate partner violence.   Intimate partner violence (IPV) can have significant effects on one’s health, including increased risk for substance use concerns. In addition to using substances in order to cope with experiences of violence, survivors may also be coerced to use substances, face increased violence if they do not use substances, and have their attempts to engage treatment and recovery sabotaged by a partner or ex-partner – all tactics of substance use coercion. Many substance use specialists and domestic violence advocates feel unprepared to help survivors address concerns related to substance use and substance use coercion. Watch the Webinar:

You Fit Together is a guidebook about stress, the body’s reaction to the physical, emotional, or intellectual challenges it faces. Moderate stress can be positive and healthy, but having too much stress can cause problems with physical and/or mental health and raise the risk of problems with alcohol or drugs. The guidebook describes challenges that too much stress can cause, about your own health, the health of someone you know, or the health and well-being of your community as a whole - and tips to improve all of these challenges.

This guide book is designed for leadership in a trauma-informed care initiative or a ROSC transformation—maybe in an organization, in a whole system, or in a whole community.   A Challenge to Leadership has 8 sections. Each section has a set of “action notes,” which are basically workbook tools.  The Action Notes can be used to start a planning process for a change team or a transformation team.

The ATTC Network understands that words have power. A few ATTC products developed prior to 2017 may contain language that does not reflect the ATTCs’ current commitment to using affirming, person-first language. We appreciate your patience as we work to gradually update older materials. For more information about the importance of non-stigmatizing language, see “Destroying Addiction Stigma Once and For All: It’s Time” from the ATTC Network and “Changing Language to Change Care: Stigma and Substance Use Disorders” from the Providers Clinical Support System (PCSS).
