This training is for Opportunity Council providers only. This Introduction to Motivational Interviewing workshop is designed to increase providers' capacity to deliver evidence based practices and operate from a recovery oriented system of care perspective. Participants of this training will have a number of opportunities for practice and skills development through the use of role-plays, real-plays, and interactive group exercises. Video and live demonstrations will also be used to enhance the learning process. The training is designed for professionals working in education, corrections, mental health, substance abuse, and case management. This training is a two-day workshop; the second day will be on September 21, 2018. Participants should plan to attend both days.
This is an ongoing technical assistance event for the drug court component of the PR Court of Justice. The audience are judges, social workers and other service providers of drug courts .
Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender people can experience violence, discrimination and oppression chronically over the full course of their lives. The health disparities and use of substances among members of these communities confirm the grave toll wrought for the transgression of being who they are. This interactive training raises awareness and offers strategies to engage and retain LGBT people in care and treatment. Participants will explore their own attitudes, values and beliefs and consider the practice of cultural humility.
This course will define and explore stress and the process of vicarious traumatization. A model of worker self-care will also be presented and participants will review their own self-care behaviors.

This training is for Health Systems Trust (HST) health professionals. The training is to identify mental disorders and infectious diseases that frequently occur alongside substance use disorders. Providers that attend this training will learn how to screen for mental health and substance use disorders and interpret the results of screening tools in order to improve HIV treatment outcomes through detection and intervention of co-occurring alcohol and drug use.

Face-to-Face Training
You may know CPR. You can call 911. But can you administer first aid in a mental health crisis? Mental Health First Aid is an 8 hour course where you can learn how to help someone who is developing a mental health problem or experiencing a mental health crisis. You will learn to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental illness and addictions.
Drug misuse, addiction, and HIV have been inextricably linked since the HIV epidemic began. This training will discuss the opioid crisis and how it increases risk of getting, or passing on, the HIV virus and how HIV and behavioral health stigma can impact prevention efforts. There will also be discussions on the science of addiction and how substance misuse impacts the brain, as well as engaging high-risk populations. At the end of this course, the audience will be trained on the benefits and the use of Naloxone in the event of an opioid overdose. Space is limited to 40 participants.
This training is for Health Systems Trust (HST) health professionals. Attendees will gain knowledge around cultural competencies to better conceptualise the circumstances and care of their patients in order to improve HIV treatment outcomes through strategies such as increased detection and intervention of co-occurring mental illness, alcohol and other drug use disorders.
Workshop will discuss main mental health disorders that co-occur with substance use disorders. A diagnosis of co-occurring disorders occurs when at least one disorder of each type can be established independent of the other and is not simply a cluster of symptoms resulting from the one disorder.
Workshop has the objective to increase familiarity with the issues and barriers faced by lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender persons in need of substance use disorders related services. Will enhance the ability to offer sensitive, affirmative, culturally relevant, and effective treatment to LGBT persons in substance use disorders services.
Motivational interviewing is an evidence-based counseling approach that health care providers can use to help patients adhere to treatment recommendations. It emphasizes using a directive, patient-centered style of interaction to promote behavioral change by helping patients explore and resolve ambivalence.
Professional boundaries set the parameters of effective and appropriate interaction between professionals and the persons they serve. They protect clients or patients as well as the provider. This course will discuss professionalism and ethics, dual relationships, how to build a safe working environment and maintain professional boundaries that are essential for practice and achieving client goals.

The community participants will provide input and help develop a ROSC strategic plan to move the community toward measurable goals in developing a ROSC system for Scott County Indiana.
This training is the sixth of six trainings for health professionals and lay workers at the Denis Hurley Centre. The Denis Hurley Centre serves thousands of homeless, refugees, and people living with HIV and TB. Attendees of this training will gain knowledge about treatment and management of common mental health illnesses and associated healthcare pathways related to those illnesses. Those who attend this training will learn about the Mental Health Care Act, hospital admissions and role players, the admission pathway and process, and non-specialist worker experiences.
This training is for KwaZulu-Natal Department of Health doctors and nurses. Attendees will gain knowledge and skills in assessment, screening, brief interventions, and referral to treatment for people with substance use disorders, particularly those living with HIV. After this training, attendees will be able to apply these skills to the care of their patients in order to improve HIV treatment outcomes through strategies such as increased detection and intervention.
