Clinical Supervision Skills Video Demonstrations: Part 3

Part 3: Corrective Action in Clinical Supervision

The Corrective Action video demonstration provides an example of a clinical supervisor providing feedback to a supervisee about an issue which needs immediate response. This video demonstration provides an example of a method for providing information when immediate change is required. Corrective Action is a method used when other collaborative techniques such as the feedback model have not worked.

The Corrective Action video demonstration shows an example of a supervisor Amber, and her supervisee Marjorie, discussing how Marjorie has not discontinued group hugs as a way of closing groups down. This video builds on the work done in the previous video demonstrating the Feedback Model in that it shows an example of how to proceed when a supervisee has not made a required change. The Corrective Action model provides very clear steps and structure for what is commonly a very difficult discussion to have with supervisees. The video will also show how a supervisor can set a boundary and still be supportive to the supervisee.
