Trauma Informed Care in Faith Communities

"Trauma Informed Care" is a strengths-based framework grounded in neuroscientific research and intentional practices designed to protect and empower trauma survivors and caregivers. By providing compassionate, trauma-informed care, individuals and organizations can create an environment where everyone can thrive.

This introductory session aims to serve faith communities through educational training. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of the prevalence of trauma and the impact of chronic stress, including adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), on brains, bodies, and behaviors. The session will review key principles of Trauma Informed Care and teach universal strategies that can be implemented by anyone, anywhere, to support long-term health and well-being for all.

Caregiver Well-Being

Anyone who cares for others can be impacted by trauma exposure and compassion fatigue. Though these experiences are normal, they can wreak havoc on our health and well-being if we donā€™t intentionally care for ourselves. Join us for an engaging seminar where we will explore together these common experiences that impact caregiver well-being and the brain-based practices that can help our nervous systems release stress and restore to us a sense of calm and well-being.

Testimonials

Ellis Carter- from Youthfront
The Trauma Informed Care Trainings have greatly impacted my ability to do ministry and care for members of our community. I learned how to identify and navigate my own trauma responses when caring for individuals and developed more skills in releasing the secondary trauma I experience. I also gained a better understanding of how people carry childhood trauma with them into adulthood. Thank you so much for bringing these training sessions to our community!
Jessi Marcus, Pastor of Discipleship & Formation at Jacob's Well
Our staff was led through two Trauma Informed Care workshops with Kreasha Williams and Pastor Brooks. The trainings were invaluable. It has provided a new framework for the way we do ministry. It has impacted the way we minister to every generation in each ministry sphere. Our staff now has a common goal to lead with curiosity and empathy in each interaction with the goal of providing a safe and trustworthy environment. The other major impact is recognizing that this starts inside of each of us as a staff. Learning self-compassion, creating self-care rituals, and tending to our own rest and recovery has been essential. The things that we are learning continue to filter out into the rest of our community. We are so grateful for this training and would highly recommend to other faith communities.
