Harm Reduction

Mid-America ATTC has developed a training program aimed at reducing stigma toward individuals who use substances. This comprehensive training seeks to change perceptions and enhance actions, ultimately leading to improved outcomes and a greater number of individuals entering recovery.

Key components of the training include:

  • A peer recovery support specialist sharing their personal journey with drug use, overdose, and navigating the continuum of care.
  • An in-depth exploration of how addiction affects the brain.
  • Insights into the impact of stigma and biases on delaying the recovery process.
  • Practical training on administering Narcan, a life-saving overdose reversal medication. (This is an optional add-on)

About the trainer:

Harm Reduction Poster

Mid-America ATTC partnered with Facente Consulting to launch a harm reduction consultation pilot program in early 2022.  The goal of this program was to act as a harm reduction resource to empower individuals and organizations seeking to implement or improve evidence-based practices within their systems to reduce stigma and promote the safety and well-being of people who use drugs. The poster outlines the findings of the pilot program.
